My name is Araceli, but my friends and family know me as Cely. I was born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico. It is a very small town in Jalisco. My parents are Jose and Catalina, who are from very small ranchos near the village. I am the middle child of seven kids, and when I was about five years old, my parents moved my family to the United States for a better life.
As I was growing up, I found my love for hair and makeup. In high school, I convinced my mom to let me attend a cosmetology program.
I started working at a salon, and eventually, all my friends started asking me to do their hair and makeup. While doing makeup on clients, I noticed many people were confused about how to use makeup, and that's how I started thinking about Araceli Beauty. I wanted to create something that not only identified with my culture but also as a consumer. It was also very important to me that it be affordable with great quality ingredients.
Jalisco is the largest producer of tequila in the world, and I thought it would be really fun to tap into that when creating our Araceli Beauty. Not only did we want to make every product a piece of art that we poured our hearts into, but we also incorporated tequila leaf extract from the agave plant into each of our powders. Araceli Beauty is a very cultural brand, but I love to say it's like tequila. Tequila comes from Jalisco, Mexico but it's made for everyone, and everyone enjoys it! So like tequila, Araceli Beauty is made for everyone no matter who you are or where you come from.
if I could give my 21-year-old self one piece of advice, it would be don't be scared - don't be scared of failure, and don't be scared to follow your
dreams I think a lot of times we're worried about what other people might think or say, and that is what keeps us from chasing our dreams so if I could give anyone one big piece of advice would to be fearless.
